Vincent Blake, Lucas Estrada ft. Stu Gabriel – Lover

Song: Lover by Vincent Blake, Lucas Estrada ft. Stu Gabriel

Genre: Electric · Indie-Pop

Mood: Chill · Feel Good

First, I want to say I know it’s been a while since I posted last. I took a little hiatus to work on other things, but I’m happy to say: I’m back! If you’re coming back after a long wait, I’m so excited you came back! If you’re a new comer, then I’m so happy you stopped by! My first Plug In post for 2017 is for this beautiful song.

I stubble upon this song and I decided today was the day I was going sit my ass down and make some time to get back to talking about what I love – Music. Not only is it energetic and catchy but it has such a great vibe that could make any bad day a good day and any good day a better day. Let me start by introducing you to the artists.

Vincent Blake and Lucas Estrada are both DJ’s from Stockholm, Sweden. Their collaboration with each other is so in sync it was “Tearin’ Up My Heart” to tell you about it. (Only those of you who lived through the 90’s will get that pun.) But a great beat is only truly appreciated when it is paired with a great voice. Stu Gabriel is a singer / songwriter / guitarist who, it turns out, is also from Sweden. I would say they had the right idea working together and they didn’t have to go far to spread this sweet jam across the ocean.

The song title Lover is a simple, beautiful and fitting name for this melody. I think the song is an ode to a strong passionate connection with someone, which the person who is singing does not want to end or stop – not even for a second. I think it is a song we can all relate to. I’ve always been someone who has loved with all my heart no matter what. Yes it has broken my heart a few times but it has also lead the way to incredible relationships and friendships. Your life should be filled with as much love as possible.

I love the whole song, but especially Stu’s voice and the guitar. You can check out more from him on his Youtube channel. I’m a sucker for guitars, which is why I am currently in the baby phases of learning to play myself. I tend to keep myself busy, always on to something new, so I’m hoping I keep it up!

In addition to all of this, I came across this song courtesy of The Vibe Guide. They have no idea who I am but I’m about to throw down some shout outs there way. They pretty much do what I do but on a whole other level. (Not trying to deter you from my blog – just sharing a good find!) They talk about music, interview bands, review albums and even have a podcast you can listen to. If you love music as much as me and are always looking for new artists or music to listen to, you should check them out.

Thanks for tuning in! Let me know your thoughts. I hope you guys enjoyed it ❤

Mr. Probz – Waves (Robin Schulz Remix)

Song: Waves by Mr. Probz (Robin Schulz Remix)

Genre: R&B

Mood: Mellow

About the Music: Mr. Probz is a Dutch singer/songwriter and Hip Hop artist. Incorporating EDM into this song was very new to him and different than his other songs, but I think it made for a great track. I’m in love with the beat and his raspy voice.

“I’m slowly drifting away (drifting away)

 Wave after wave,

                    wave after wave…”

I think the song is a metaphor for a struggling relationship. They try to withstand the waves of problems they face, but every wave pushes them further and makes it harder to get back to where they were. In the end, there is no denying they are drifting apart.

His debut album The Treatment was just released on September 16, 2014. If you like Hip Hop, check it out.

YoungeBlood Hawke – We Come Running

Artist: We Come Running by YoungeBlood Hawke

Genre: Indie-pop

Mood: Upbeat, Fun

About the Music: An oldie, but one of my favorites – this song is about determination and recognizing your potential. When it was released, the group stated they considered it to be their “personal anthem.” No matter how bad or discouraging things seemed for the band, they never allowed it to get them down. It’s upbeat, uplifting and fun; a testament to the kind of band they are and a showcase of their perseverance.

Say What?! – This video was put together by the band, not only to release their first single and have an amazing experience doing it, but also to promote the conservation of sharks. They hoped this video would show how majestic and misunderstood these creatures are, since they are surrounded by negative stigma and the killing of sharks put them at risk of being endangered.

“Sharks are being slaughtered and are in danger of being wiped out,” adds the group. “They play a vital role in the food chain and without them, the ecosystem could not survive. Being close enough to have these majestic creatures brush past us was an experience that words cannot describe. They were intelligent, curious and represent the power and mystery of nature. We’d like to be a part of preserving that. Hopefully, this video will help shine a light on the importance of these gorgeous, misunderstood animals and their important role in our ecosystem.”

The Colourist – Little Games

Artist: Little Games by The Colourist

Genre: Indie-pop

Mood: Upbeat

About the Music: Another song post for The Colourist, and it doesn’t stop here! The more I listen to them the more I like them.

This song has a fun, electronic, indie-pop sound. Adam Castilla and Maya TuttleI are the lead singers; their voices compliment each other, creating a unique and addictive sound. Maya’s voice reminds me of Emily Haines, the lead singer of Metric. Maya is also the drummer of the band – which is pretty B.A.

Their LPThe Colouristwas released in March of this year. I would definitely encourage you to check them out if you like what you hear.

Troye Sivan – Happy Little Pill

Song: Happy Little Pill by Troye Sivan

Genre: Pop

Mood: Mellow

About the Music:  This song is melodic and calming; his smooth voice and electronic undertones got me hooked. All in all, it has a good, fluid beat. I was recommended this song by my brother; I had not heard of him before so I looked him up.

Originally from South Africa, where he was born, he launched his career in Australia. He is a well-known YouTuber, who some claim to be the next Justin Bieber. Watching a few of his videos, I can say his personality is lovable, charming, and, more than anything, grateful for all the love and support from his fans.

In addition to being passionate about music and singing, he is also an actor. Does he look familiar?! If you are an X-Men, fan you might recognize him as the young James Logan Howlett in the blockbuster movie X-Men Origins: Wolverine. – I actually saw this movie in theaters, so I was surprised to learn that.

Needless to say, I was very impressed. He has a lot going for him and I’m looking forward to seeing where he goes from here. His EP, which includes this song, came out on August 15th, 2014.

Ed Sheeran & Christina Grimmie – All of the Stars

Song: All of the Stars by Ed Sheeran ft. Christina Grimmie

Genre: Alternative

Mood: Love, Acoustic

About the Music: I love Ed Sheeran; he is a very creative and talented artist that I admire. Here is a version of his song “All of the Stars” with Christina Grimmie that premiered on The Voice this year. The collaboration turned out beautifully. They brought a sense of realism through their voices of love and longing to be with someone you care about.

The original song is featured on the soundtrack for the movie “The Fault in Our Stars,” which is currently playing in theaters. The movie is based on the novel written by John Green, a story about two teen-age cancer patients who fall in love.

Aside from sharing this song, I also wanted to share that Ed Sheeran is currently on tour and will be coming through the west coast until the end of August. Click here for the tour dates and locations!
